20 YEARS OF CREES!
Wow, what a journey it has been up to this point, from humble beginnings in 2003 as a blank canvas after environmentally destructive ranching and logging activities!
To construct the biological research station of the Manu Learning Centre from the ground up and enable the regeneration of a devastated area into a safe space for flora and fauna to call home once more within the Manu Biosphere Reserve buffer zone!
All thanks to our founder Sr. Quinn Meyer who took a leap of faith to initiate this project many years ago and our Director Sr. Juan Carlos Cardenas who has steered the ship for many years! Two passionate individuals who have enabled us to thrive and continue to grow to this very day!
We are constantly aiming to improve our relations with locals to educate and ensure more sustainable practices and to communicate our mission with not just our local beneficiaries, but also with the world!
Our programs within experiential learning, conservation, and conservation multimedia are constantly evolving and improving to inspire the next generation of conservationists. Giving many high-quality, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and opportunities that cannot be replicated or found anywhere else!
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved with Crees Manu in some shape or form! We are extremely grateful to have the team we do, who are passionate about providing the best experience possible for our volunteers, interns, and tourist visitors. From the office in Cusco to the biological research station at the Manu Learning Centre – you are the lifeblood of our project!
Now some words from our Director Sr. Juan Carlos Cardenas:
“Over the past 20 years, our mission and objectives have remained unwavering. We have had the privilege of working with exceptional individuals who have contributed and made their mark by creating more stories at the Manu Learning Centre. Our main focus is to raise awareness, educate, and promote inspiring actions that lead to authentic behavioural change, all based on our tireless efforts to conserve this invaluable region of my beloved Manu.”
